3 people have been killed and at least seven others injured after a crash in Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city.
Police said that they were responding to reports of a car crash in the town of Sankoya when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree and the car that was travelling on a nearby road.
Three people died at the scene, while seven others were taken to hospital, the Lagos state government said.
The driver of the car was identified as 36-year-old Ebrahim Kano.
The police later said he was also in his 30s and was known to local people.
Witnesses told local media that the car had been stopped by an elderly couple who were out shopping with their family, the BBC reports.
They said the elderly couple then took out their own car and drove off.
